Call it the Zeituni Doctrine.
“Everyone has the right to come to this country. And everyone has the right to be a citizen. And if they don’t come here legally then Congress must act . . . to pave that way.”
Only, this crazy comment didn’t come from President Barack Obama’s scam artist of an aunt. It came from Senate President Therese Murray - one of the three most powerful politicians in Massachusetts state government.
Terry Murray made this impassioned defense of illegal immigrant entitlement at a Democratic Party rally earlier this year. Her call for open borders - literally - was met with cheers from the crowd. So too were Murray’s comments about the “nutcases” and “racists” in the “teabagger party.”
Then she added a few words denouncing hate speech . . .
But her assault on American sovereignty was truly astonishing. Everyone in the world has the right to American citizenship? If they break the law coming here, we “must act” on their behalf to reward them? Murray can’t possibly believe what she’s saying. Can she?
But then how is Murray’s position any different from Aunt Zeituni’s? “If I come as an immigrant, you have the obligation to make me a citizen,” America’s second-most-famous public housing resident told WBZ-TV (her nephew is the first).
Zeituni’s TV appearance generated so much outrage that even a pro-illegal pol like Gov. Deval Patrick felt forced to call her out. “With all due respect - I just don’t think that people who are here illegally are entitled to anything other than the respect you would give another living soul,” Patrick told the Herald.
Will he call out Terry Murray, too? Because it’s a lot more frightening hearing this entitlement mantra from a Senate president than from a president’s aunt. Murray gets laws passed. Aunt Zeituni doesn’t even get to vote.
Yet.
Every nation in the world controls its borders. Every nation limits immigration, deports the rule breakers and denies citizenship to some. These are the most basic characteristics of a sovereign nation. Murray’s comments put her in the same camp as the Harvard Square screwballs dreaming of a global socialist utopia.
I knew Murray was a liberal (her most recent rating from Citizens for Limited Taxation was a 7 out of 100), but I didn’t realize she had entered Michael Moore territory.
I wonder how many of the voters in her district know about Murray’s pro-criminal immigrant extremism? And how will Irish-American voters feel about Murray equating their journey to America with that of illegals today? “I’m an Irish descendant,” Murray said in the same speech. “My grandmother was an immigrant. I would hate to have her live today to hear what they call immigrants.”
Was Murray’s Irish grandmother an illegal immigrant? Or did she, like the vast majority of Irish immigrants of the time, board a ship and come to America by the rules? Then again, to Murray it’s all the same. Everyone’s entitled to come to America - remember?
Fortunately, the actual American citizens of Murray’s district still cling to one last entitlement of their own: the right to vote her - and her warped politics - out of office.
