SAN DIEGO -- The owner of a San Diego County wholesale bakery business, two supervisors and an employee were charged Thursday with conspiracy to harbor illegal immigrants and other charges.
Jesse William Fadick, the 64-year-old owner of S&S Bakery Inc.; supervisors Rigoberto Sarmiento-Machuca and Rogelio Machuca-Sarmiento; and a bakery employee, Abel Baizabal, are charged in the three-count federal complaint.
Another S&S bakery employee, Norma Angelica Flores, was charged separately with being a deported person found in the United States.
According to the three-count complaint, Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials received a tip alleging that well over 50 percent of S&S Bakery's workforce was composed of illegal immigrants, including Sarmiento-Machuca, Machuca-Sarmiento and Baizabal.
During the execution of a search warrant at the bakery, agents arrested 41 illegal immigrants and identified 32 other employees, all working at the bakery, according to the complaint.
Three additional illegal immigrant employees were arrested during the execution of a search warrant at Machuca-Sarmiento's residence, authorities said. Of those arrested, 19 of the illegal immigrant employees were charged as material witnesses in the complaint.
Some of the defendants could be arraigned Friday at the federal courthouse in San Diego, and the remaining defendants will make their first court appearance on Monday, said Assistant U.S. Attorney Jaime Parks.

United States Code, Title 8, Chapter 12, Subchapter II, Part VIII, §1325 - "Improper Entry by Alien," any citizen of any country other than the United States who: 1) Enters or attempts to enter the United States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers; or 2) Eludes examination or inspection by immigration officers; or 3) Attempts to enter or obtains entry to the United States by a willfully false or misleading representation or the willful concealment of a material fact; has committed a federal crime.
