CARLSBAD: North County man sought in connection with death of woman
Police are looking for a North County man as part of the investigation into the death of a woman whose body was found in a burning car Friday night.
Detectives are asking for the public's help finding 50-year-old Julio Angel Garcia-Puente, who is the estranged husband of the registered owner of the vehicle, according to the San Diego Police Department.
On Friday, UC San Diego police found a vehicle on fire in a parking lot of the school's campus in the 3600 block of Voigt Drive, said San Diego police Lt. Kevin Rooney. When firefighters put out the fire, they found a woman inside.
The victim has not been positively identified, but the registered owner of the vehicle is a resident of Carlsbad, who has been missing since Friday, Rooney said. Police said they don't know if the woman was killed during the fire or if she was already dead at the time of the fire.
Rooney said Garcia-Puente is unemployed and has no known permanent address, but he is known to frequent Carlsbad and San Marcos.
Garcia-Puente is described as 5 feet, 8 inches tall, and 170 pounds.
